In May of 2008 Old Library Studio received a $10,000 community grant from The Oregon Community Foundation, to support Magic in Their Hands, a capacity-building project to strengthen support and expand the number of teen musicians served at Old Library Studio. This grant was made possible through the Edna L. Holmes Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation. This is the first community grant Old Library Studio has received from The Oregon Community Foundation. We greatly appreciate their support of our program. |

Want even more music in your life? The Portland Youth Philharmonic wants you! Here are two ways to participate. LISTEN Receive two-for-one student tickets in the orchestra level for the Portland Youth Philharmonic's Spring Concert in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on May 3rd at 7:30 p.m. when you mention the Old Library Studio. The program features Bruckner's 4th Symphony. Call 503-223-5939 M-F to order. PLAY Applications to audition for PYP's 85th Season are available online.
The Portland Youth Philharmonic, founded in 1924, is the country's first youth orchestra. Membership is based on competitive auditions that take place each June. Members range from age 7 to 23, no one older than age 22 can audition. Membership requires a commitment to a set schedule of rehearsals and performances throughout the season. |

Old Library Studio will be one of the sponsors for this year's Portland Teen Idol. Students of Old Library Studio will produce a three song demo with the winner, as well as a single to be played on the radio. Portland Teen Idol is a program created by Portland Parks and Recreation. Teens get to sing all summer, and past winners have opened for Heart, Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan, and Keith Anderson. |
